Originating from Japan, Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” is a preventative health practice that improves and strengthens mental and physical wellbeing.
Recognised as a public health practice in Asia and Europe, Forest Therapy is gaining global acclaim as an evidence-based, cost-effective and natural remedy – a ‘green prescription’ for a healthier you.
You will learn simple nature connection, sensory and creative practices to help calm your mind, feel grounded and in the moment.
“Integrated into existing programs and interventions provide another option to educators seeking low-risk educational and intervention alternatives for their students,” Journal of Outdoor and Environmental Education.
“After practicing forest bathing, participants’ mental well-being increased significantly, as measured by the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well Being Scale.,” Antioch University ProQuest Dissertations & Theses.

People with Disabilities
Accessible and inclusive nature-based activities that enable all abilities to engage with nature in a safe, enjoyable and meaningful way.
Exploring the benefits of nature often remain inaccessible. The advantages of nature can seem out of reach to people with disabilities.
Fortunately, even brief encounters with nature, whether in urban areas or indoor settings, can bring positive effects.
Access to nature has a direct protective effect on health, which means that we can all benefit.
We create an innovative inclusive learning environment with nature at its core, which promotes active participation, social inclusion, and community engagement.
Our program tailors to the individual's needs, goals, and preferences:
· Engaging in creative pursuits in the home or taking outings
· Visiting local parks or natural habitats
· Learning about nature and how it affects our lives
· Learning history of the local area, indigenous history, and local development

Immersing ourselves in nature recharges our mental, spiritual, and physical selves. Studies show nature immersion, or even a walk in the bush or garden, has profound mental and physical benefits. But not all of us have these options.
According to National Seniors Australia, “While ideally practised outdoors, you can also have the experience of Shinrin-yoku inside your home. Using natural elements in the house can bring us in contact with nature and out of ourselves and self-concerns, if only for a while.”
So our Reflection Boxes and personal visits give you and your loved ones the benefits without the travel.
Aswell as helping to relax and remember memories, better connection to nature leads to better health and happiness.
Spending time in nature regularly helps boost your immune system, and studies have shown that it can potentially accelerate the recovery process and contribute to lowering blood pressure levels.
I combine my experiences as a teacher with my knowledge of Shinrin-yoku to bring nature to those who really need it.
Since the 1980’s, I regularly return to Japan to feel the benefits of Shinrin-yoku and explore the healing effects of nature on our health.
During a recent serious illness, when I couldn’t even access my garden without assistance, I realised how beneficial nature is to my wellbeing.
Now I am sharing nature with those who find accessing nature a challenge or have never felt the benefits that nature can bring.
Nature teaches us that we’re a part of something much greater than ourselves.
